The River Valley Regional Food Bank would like to honor all who’ve served our country. Please see the note below from Food Bank Director Tracy Engel:

Jim Clark and wife Joan

In loving memory of Army veteran Jim Clark

On this Veterans Day, I would like to thank all of the veterans who have served our country for our liberties and the freedoms that we have.  There’s no bigger hero in my eyes than a veteran who has given his or her time — and sometimes the ultimate sacrifice, his or her life — so that we may all live in a free country.

On a sad note, on Nov. 5, I lost a dear friend. His name was Jim Clark of Clarksville, and he was married to my sweet friend, Joan, for 67 years.

Jim served in the National Guard from 1949-1952, then enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1952-1972.  For 24 years he gave service to his country with honor and integrity, and was one of the best men I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.

I’ve been with the food bank going on seven years now, and I’ve met many veterans — and all of them have a story and have touched my soul with their service to country.

I can’t thank each and every one of them personally, but know that I am proud of the work we do at the food bank to support our veterans, and we are honored that we get to call many of you our friends.

Thank you all for your service and sacrifice to our country.

God bless all veterans and God bless the United States of America,

Tracy Denise Engel
